What are the steps of a service visit?
A porta potty service visit has six steps: pump the waste tank, add fresh water and blue deodorizer, scrub the seat, urinal, walls and floor, refill toilet paper and sanitizer, check the door, latch and vent, and record the visit. Sink units also get fresh water, soap and towels.
- Vacuum the waste tank to empty
- Recharge with water and deodorizer
- Scrub and sanitize surfaces
- Restock paper and sanitizer
- Check latch, vent, hinges and anchoring
- Log the date, time and notes
How often should a porta potty be serviced?
A porta potty should be serviced once a week when about 10 people use it during a work week. Units shared by more people, used on 24-hour shifts, or placed at summer events in Carlsbad heat need 2 or more visits a week. Event units of 4 days or less usually need none.
Where does the waste go?
Porta potty waste is hauled to permitted disposal facilities. New Mexico's liquid waste rule, 20.7.3 NMAC, allows septage to be disposed of only at a permitted facility and requires pumpers to keep disposal records for three years. Ivan Rental Works follows that rule on every route.
What signs mean a unit needs extra service?
A unit needs extra service when the tank level is near the seat, toilet paper runs out before the service day, odor is strong at the door, or users start avoiding it. Call and we add a visit, usually the same or next weekday.
How do you keep the service lane clear?
Keep the path between the truck lane and the porta potty clear on service day. Move vehicles, pallets and dumpsters away from the hose path, keep gates unlocked or share the code, and tell us if the unit has moved. A blocked unit may miss its weekly service.
