When does a campsite or RV lot need a porta potty?
A campsite or RV lot needs a porta potty when guests stay without a bathhouse, when RV tanks fill faster than the dump station schedule allows, or when a workforce lot hosts crews for weeks. Group campouts, scout trips, family reunions on ranch land and temporary crew housing near oilfield work are common examples.
- Group campouts
- Scout and church camps
- Temporary crew housing lots
- Ranch reunions
- Overflow RV parking
- Off-road and hunting weekends
How many porta potties does a campout need?
A weekend campout needs about 1 standard porta potty for every 10 to 15 campers, plus a handwashing station near the cooking area. A 40-person, 2-night campout needs 3 to 4 units. Stays longer than 4 nights need a service visit so the units stay usable.
| Campers | 2 nights | 4 nights | Weekly (long-term lot) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10–15 | 1 | 1 + service | 1 |
| 30 | 2–3 | 3 + service | 2–3 |
| 40 | 3–4 | 4 + service | 4 |
| 60 | 5 | 6 + service | 5–6 |
